Calliper is a light coat/cardigan with a modern silhouette: open front, oversized look, high-low hem and back vent. It is knit bottom-up in pieces (a total of 7) and then seamed with ‘inside-out’ seams for a more interesting and structured look. You then pick up and knit on ribbed trim along the fronts and the neck. The coat is fully reversible, so you can also wear seams to the inside, if you prefer.
All-over seed stitch texture gives it an effect of loden (boiled wool) fabric traditionally used for coats.
The striking seam lines, together with the back vent and the shape of the front panels remind of callipers (an instrument for measuring thicknesses and diameters), giving the coat its name.
The pattern is written for 1 size: S-L (intended for bust circumference 88-96cm/35-38” with 20-30 cm of positive ease) with instructions on how to size it up to the desired measurements.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS

• Yarn: the pattern was specifically created for Rodina Yarns (any of the two, held double): − ‘Bristol’ (40% baby alpaca, 32% viscose, 20% nylon, 8% wool; 150m/165yds per 50g/1.8oz); − ‘Bristol Plus’ (38% baby alpaca, 31% viscose, 31% nylon; 150m/165yds per 50g/1.8oz). The sample was knit out of Bristol Plus in colourway 045822 ‘Mist on the Alpine meadows’ and used 17 balls (850g/30 oz or 2,550m/2,790yds) Yarn substitute suggestions: − Lana Grossa ‘Lala Berlin: Lovely Fine Tweed’ (37% alpaca, 35% nylon, 26% merino, 2% viscose; 175m/190yds per 50g/1.8oz) – double stranded; − Lana Grossa ‘Lala Berlin: Lovely’ (52% alpaca, 18% cashmere, 18% wool, 12% nylon; 90m/100yds per 50g/1.8oz) – single stranded; − Berocco ‘North Star’ (92% alpaca, 8% nylon; 100m/110 yds per 50g/1.8oz) – single stranded.
• Needles: 5mm/US 8 (or size to obtain gauge) – main body in seed stitch; 4.5mm/US 7 – ribbing
• Notions: 4.5mm/G hook, tapestry needle, row counter (optional).

Легкое пальто-кардиган с выполнением швов «наружу», кокетка на спинке, интересный вырез проймы на полочках. Название пальто «calliper» с англ. «штангенциркуль» дано по ассоциации с формой полочки. Полотно связано двойной нитью Bristol Plus рисунком «рис», который придает ему эффект ткани лоден.

Пальто двустороннее, его можно носить на обе стороны. Актуальный и современный силуэт.
