Caramel Hat is a simple hat in 1x1 ribbing and needs only one ball of Gilliatt (from Derum Natura). The bottom of the hat is doubled. The crown is shaped with decreases, at 4 places and rather irregularly, which results in an original shape.

The sizes are set to fit with the ribbing stretched. Measure the wearer’s head circumference and find the perfect size from 8 total sizes offered.

Yarn

1 ball of De Rerum Natura Gilliatt(100% merino wool; 250 meters/100g)

Or about 200 meters / 219 yards of worsted weight yarn.

Needles

4.5 mm US 7 circular needle. Same or smaller size circular needle as a 2nd needle.

Adjust needle size if necessary to get gauge.

Gauge

18 sts x 27 rows = 10 cm /4“, in stockinette stitch after wet blocking.

17 sts x 26 rows = 10 cm /4“, in k1p1 ribbing after wet blocking (unstretched).

Notions 4 stitch markers, 1 for marking end of round and 3 for decrease (I recommend to use a different color marker for end of round), tapestry needle, crochet hook (suitable size for waste yarn), waste yarn.

Gilliattを1玉使って編む, １目ゴム編みのシンプルな帽子です. 帽子の下の部分はリブが二重になっています. クラウンの形は４か所で減らし目をしながら編みます. 不規則な減らし目をすることで, ちょっと個性的な形の帽子に仕上がります.

サイズはゴム編みの部分が伸びた状態で頭にフィットするように設定しています. 全部で8サイズあるので, 被る人の頭の大きさを測って,ちょうど良いサイズを見つけてください.

糸

De Rerum NaturaのGilliatt(メリノウール100%, 250m/100g) を1玉使用. もしくはウールの並太の糸を200m.

ゲージ

18目27段 = 10cm, 「メリヤス編み」を水通ししてブロッキング

17目26段 = 10cm, 「ゴム編み」を水通ししてブロッキング（平置きの状態で伸ばさずに計測）

針のサイズを決めるときはメリヤス編みのゲージを参考にして, 目数のゲージが合う針を使用して下さい. 段数のゲージが異なる場合は, 編むときにパターンに書かれた長さを目安に段数を調節して下さい.

針

メインの針: 4.5mm/US 7/日本規格8号の輪針

予備針: メインの針と同じサイズか, 少し細いサイズの輪針（編み地をつなげる時に使います）

ゲージに合わせて, 針のサイズを調整して下さい.

その他の道具

ステッチマーカー4個(段の終わり用に1個, 減らし目用に3個, 段の終わりに異なる色のマーカーを使うとわかりやすいです), 余り糸, とじ針, 余り糸に合うサイズのかぎ針.
