Introducing FINE LINES, a happy, fun play with color and ribbing that takes me back to Twiggy and summers in the late 60’s when everyone was wearing ribbed tops called “Poor Boys”! FINE LINES takes this retro look and gives it a modern flare with the wonderful color palate of Kelbourne Woolens’ yarns. I played with more nautical tones and then a blast of bright colors, but I am thinking that a set of neutral colors would be quite stunning, as well!

Knit all in-one-piece from the top-down, FINE LINES uses an unusual construction, adding extra length on the BACK sts, so that there is no need for short-rows along the neckline. This is the second time that I have used this method (first used on PLAYTIME), it is a technique that I picked up from a Japanese pattern many years ago. As a result, the BACK striping is somewhat different from the FRONT, which adds a bit more fun to the pullover!

In addition to the fun stripes and distinctive ribbed texture, the pullover also has an interesting bust dart detail that adds a bit more ease in the front over the bust.

FINE LINES knits up equally well in wool (I used Kelbourne Woolens Andorra) or cotton/linen (shown also in Kelbourne Woolens Mojave) and can be customized to one of 3 lengths — cropped, waist length or hip length. And sleeve lengths are varied accordingly!

And a bit of a change in sizing: Because of the construction, I am offering 11 sizes with approximately 2 ½“ difference between each size. When picking your size, realize that this is a ribbed piece and will pull in a bit (or really, you need to slightly stretch your fabric to determine gauge)! I decided to knit myself a size 4 (so the full 4” of positive ease), but I have been known to wear the size 3 hip length one for a more fitted look!
