Leafy Wreath Cowl
This is a lightweight cowl that will slip easily under a coat or that can be worn indoors as an alternative to a scarf. It was inspired by autumn branches of leaves woven into a wreath, but works equally well for all seasons. The cowl uses a provisional cast-on and is constructed from the center out. It has dense cabled fabric for warmth around the neck and alternating cabled leaves and lace leaves for a softer edge.
The pattern includes both written instructions and charted instructions. It also contains information about how to easily modify it for smaller /larger amounts of yarn, other sizes and different yarn weights. The combination of basic elements from several techniques makes this pattern well suited for an advanced beginner who wants to practice some new skills.
The cowl can be made out of less than 200 meters/ 220 yards of fingering weight yarn. It is well suited for leftover half-skeins or if you want to get both a cowl and a pair of fingerless mittens out of that ‘special’ skein.
