Yarn: 4 (4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 6, 6, 6, 7, 7) skeins Oceanwind Knits Hand-Dyed BFL (437 yds / 399 m per 4 oz / 115 g skein; 100% Blue Faced Leicester Wool) in Lilac.

Needles & Notions:

• Size 6 US / 4 mm circular needle, 24” / 60 cm long.
• Size 6 US / 4 mm set of double-pointed needles or a second circular for 2-circ method.
• Size 7 US / 4.5 mm crochet hook or a hook one size larger than needle size necessary to obtain gauge in knitting (reference the mm number to compare knitting to crochet sizes).
• Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
• Four stitch markers
• stitch holders or scrap yarn
• tapestry needle.

Gauge: 18 sts and 26 ½ rows = 4” / 10 cm in Stockinette stitch. To save time and to ensure accurate sizing, check gauge.

Construction Notes: Knit in one piece. Sleeves are worked from stitches picked up around the armholes. Crochet lettuce edging.

For people looking to substitute yarn, choose any fingering weight wool or wool blend that has a little bit of halo.

This garment is knit with fine yarn on much larger than recommended needles to create a loose open fabric. A little halo will fill out those stitches.

While the piece is mostly stockinette, there’s lots of simple but interesting shaping to keep it from getting boring.
