Vermont Shawl
The “Vermont Shawl” is a leafy half-circle shawl inspired by the verdant, maple-forested hills of Vermont.
The lace stitch patterns, which are offered in both written and charted instructions, are challenging but beautiful! They capture a little bit of the forest to wrap around your shoulders.
It’s knit from the center neck out, similar to a pi-shawl, except that the stitch doublings are spread over a few rows in lace patterning rather than in one row of yarnovers.
The pattern is designed for laceweight or light-fingering yarns. The two yarns in the pattern are laceweights -- one a merino/silk blend and the other a merino single -- but the prototype was in a light-fingering alpaca.
Final measurements are about 66”(170 cm) wide & 24”(60 cm) deep after blocking. (You can block it out a bit larger, but this is what it will realistically relax to.)
