Tatyana Chambers
At the gentle age of six I learned how to knit and my first yarn of choice was green mohair(!) recycled from my mom’s scarf so I could knit my own first scarf which turned out to be a little bit too wide and too short, lol. After that there was more yarn and lots of socks, mitts and hats. Some more successful, others - not so much. I remember undertaking an ambitious project - knitting a sweater with cables, bubbles and complicated stitch pattern. It was my first and last sweater for over a decade. Don’t take me wrong - I did finish it and it looked good, but I was in 4th grade, and sweater’s size was just right for my mom, not me! It didn’t even occur to me then that I had to check my gauge. I just followed the pattern for size S and that’s it. Then a few months later my mom washed it, and somehow it stretched even though it had wool in it. So it fit my older brother after that, lol.
I was participating (till the end of 2010) in many art and craft shows in DC metro area, NY and PA, been published in local media, once even been on local TV. In 2010 two of my original knitting designs were published in knitting books (you can see them below)! They are available on Amazon and in most book stores.
