9. Fifty Shades: Battleship
This tank top will be perfect for any warm weather knitter. I’m located in Texas where it is regularly over 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer. Needless to say, that limits what kind of hand knits I get to wear for half the year. Knit in Hempathy (or your favorite hemp, cotton, or linen yarn), this machine washable tank top will be a go-to wardrobe piece during those hot, sticky days.
The construction is totally seamless so, once the knitting is done, the only finishing will be weaving in your ends. The construction starts with provisional cast-ons at the top of the shoulders. This also means that you can try your work on as you’re knitting it. Allow for about an inch worth of extra length in the body as this yarn shrinks vertically when washed. Also, it will grow horizontally with wear so pick the size with around 2 inches of negative ease to your bust measurement.
When checking your gauge, do so while knitting flat and in the round. The flat gauge will be more important than the round gauge since it’s fitted in the shoulders (knit flat) and oversized in the body (knit in the round).
The edging is I-cord bind off. If you aren’t a fan, feel free to just let the stockinette edge roll.
If there are any questions or sizing issues, just let me know.
