Adrift Shawlette
Every June I start dreaming of the ocean. I can’t help it, I live in land-locked Indiana. A beautiful place, yes. But one totally and utterly devoid of the salty smell of the sea and the roar and the rush of the ocean’s great waves. (Okay, if you really want to be picky about this, yes, Indiana has access to Lake Michigan. But please, that’s comparing apples and oranges.)
I was born on the East Coast. My parents are from Long Island. Usually my summers as a child included some visit to the wonderful coast of Maine or Long Island. I think that when the salt air is in your blood, you long for it like nothing else.
So, it is June and once again I’m pining for the ocean, the waves, the sand. And once again, I’m in land-locked Indiana. So I turned my pining to knitting and “Adrift” is what came out. I hope you enjoy Adrift. And, if you too have a pining for the ocean, I hope it soothes your longing soul as well.
Happy knitting!
Note: there are written instructions and charted instructions for the knitted on lace edging.
