Note: these specific accent colors (Big Twist Value Varsity Yellow and Magenta, Red Heart Super Saver in Turqua) represent the pansexual pride flag. Switch them out for other colors as desired.
Only 4-5 yards/meters are needed in total for accent colors.

Body of hat is made with Berroco Comfort worsted weight color 9720. Uses about 185yds/169m depending on tension. 1 skein is 210yds/193m so if your gauge ends up slightly larger you will still have enough to finish.
Measures about 21” (53cm) around when laid flat, and has plenty of stretch to fit most adults.

This design started as a commission for a custom hat. Some specifics were given, but I also had a lot of artistic freedom with what the final product would look like.
I took inspiration from nautical themes -- the single twisted cable looks like mooring rope, the wraparound arrow design above the ribbing band resembles a ship’s wake, and the crown’s decreases together with the contrast colors make a slightly abstract compass rose.
