All Hallow's Eve Pumpkin
I absolutely adore all things autumn, and pumpkins make my soul happy! I wanted a pumpkin design that incorporates the contouring into the knitting, rather than the finishing, and I wanted a realistic looking pumpkin. This pattern creates a shape and size similar to the little doughnut shaped pumpkins that pop up everywhere and grace counter tops and porches in the fall. The pattern is versatile and so much fun to tweak with each new pumpkin you knit!
This pumpkin design is knit in the round, and slipped stitches create the contouring of the “valleys” for a realistic looking pumpkin. I used worsted weight yarn on size US 3 needles, although gauge is unimportant. My finished pumpkin measured 3 inches across and 2.5 inches tall, including the stem. Stitches you will need to know are M1R, M1L, KFB, Sl1, PSSO, SSK, K2tog, with basic chain stitch crochet for the green vines. Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll do my best to help! Enjoy your autumn knitting!
