I was inspired to create this scarf while taking a long and scenic train ride through the Colorado Rocky Mountains. The fern panel is a straightforward lace pattern that’s easy to memorize. It comes from a motif common in stitch dictionaries from the early to mid 1900s.

The scarf is designed to be knit in any gauge, and can be customized to be as short or long as you like. Perfect for that one ball of yarn you don’t know what to do with!
I recommend using a smooth yarn with a consistent thickness to show off the lace pattern.

Note: The lace panel in this pattern is charted - there is no written description of the stitches. If I get requests for written steps, I will be happy to re-write the pattern in the future.
