This pattern is available for free.

This is a free knitting hat pattern with a color pattern of women and hearts, with a crocheted braid at the base. This pattern is recommended for knitters who have done color stranding at least once and have used a crochet hook before.

This hat is designed to fit people with an adult-sized head.

The braid is worked after the rest of the hat has been knitted, and is added via a provisional cast-on. The braid and the stockinette body can tend to roll up a bit, but that adds to the fun, modern look.

The suggested yarn for this pattern is Drops Karisma. The sample used the colorways of Navy Blue (A) and White (B). Allow one skein for the body color, and 1/4-1/3 skeins for the accent color.

You can find a free PDF of the pattern here, and view more information and pictures on my blog here.
