Another Flower Headband
Update: I just made a tutorial on putting a polar fleece lining in the headband:
http://susanbanderson.blogspot.com/2014/11/another-flower...
Here is another headband pattern with a flower to throw into the mix! I’ve been seeing these headbands for years and I finally made my own version. Considering that there are so many versions of this accessory already out there I am offering this pattern for an extra-low price! If you search on Ravelry there are many other wonderful versions of similar headbands and some of the patterns are free (just making sure that you know!).
Since getting requests for this accessory from both of my daughters, I decided to make this button-free version for them.
I am offering different sizes for the headband and flower instructions for different size flowers. My girls both love the extra-large flowers on the side but you choose. This is a fast and furious project worked on big needles with chunky yarn.
Yarn: 120 yards chunky weight yarn (enough to make the largest size).
Button-free headband in 3 sizes:
smaller child: 16-inch circumference
larger child: 18-inch circumference
teen/adult: 20-inch circumference
(Remember you want an inch or two of negative ease!)
For comfort the headband is about an inch thinner in width at the back of the neck. I’ve included lots of fun techniques like short row shaping and a sewn bind off, all with detailed instructions. And, of course, the super-duper optional knit flower is included in the instructions. You can customize the flower to be as big or small as you’d like.
I have a video for the flower stitch technique available on my blog sidebar called the Felted Flower Demo. The flower is a modified version of the flower in Itty-Bitty Hats. I’ve included it here with more sizing options and detailed instructions. The flower is not felted on these samples but it could be felted if you prefer.
I hope you enjoy making this headband. After making three Another Flower Headbands I have the pattern, including the flower (it’s only three rows for each layer!), easily memorized. It is that simple!
This could be your new go-to gift.
