Axial is a cozy winter sweater that features an intricately cabled back that is worked from the center out; it looks more complicated than it is. The center cable resembles that of the human collarbone, making it deserving of its name, Axial, which refers to the portion of the human skeleton that contains the rib bones.

Finished Size: 36 (42, 48, 54, 60)” bust/chest circumference. Cardigan shown in Rowan in 42″ and in Knit Picks in 48”. Cardigan is meant to have a positive ease.

Yarn Option 1: Rowan, Kid Classic, 70% Lambswool/26% Kid Mohair/4% Nylon; 153yds/50g: #876 Drought, 6 (7, 8, 9, 10) skeins.

Yarn Option 2: Knit Picks City Tweed Aran/HW, 55% Merino Wool, 24% Superfine Alpaca, 20% Donegal Tweed; 164yds/100g: C108 Jacquard, 7 (7, 8, 9, 9) skeins.

Needles Size 8 (5.0 mm):16” and 24” circular (cir) and double-pointed (dpn) and straight for body; Size 7 (4.5 mm):24” circular (cir) and double-pointed (dpn) for hems and button band. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
