This is very much a pattern you judge by eye.

My bear ears were knitted to go with a hat pattern by Aneeta Patel (author of ‘Knitty-Gritty’). So I used the same yarn for the ears as I had used to make her hat pattern, and the same size needles. The hat was for a close friend so I knew what she would like the ears to look like, and what size would suit her.

This pattern provides quite chunky, large ears.
