This shawl features the use of a spike stitch, which is what reminds me of heart beats in the finished effect. The pattern is written for 3 x 50g of merino sock yarn, but the pink and black one I first made (pictured) used 2 x 75g and you can see that also gives a great effect.

The pattern has an alternative ending so that if you wish you can create a buttonhole for a chunky button if you would prefer this to a shawl pin.
