Black Forest is a seamless, little cardigan mostly worked flat, from the top down with deep scoop neck and short sleeves. The garment features the contiguous set-in sleeves method developed by Susie Myers and a lovely lace pattern for the body. Black Forest can be worn in two ways: open as the sample in the pictures (negative ease) or buttoned as a traditional cardigan (positive ease).
Finished chest circumference: 30 (35½, 41½, 47¼, 53, 59, 64½) inches/76 (90.5, 105, 120, 134.5, 150, 164) cm
To fit bust (open version): 30-32 (34-36, 40-42, 46-48, 52-54, 58-60, 62-64) inches/76-81 (86-92, 101-106, 117-122, 132-137, 147-152, 158-163) cm.
To fit bust (buttoned version): 26-28 (30-32, 34-36, 40-42, 46-48, 52-54, 58-60) inches/ 66-71 (76-81, 86-92, 101-106, 117-122, 132-137, 147-152) cm.
Sample shown in open version worn with approx. 2 inches/5 cm of negative ease. Please choose a size with zero or negative ease compared to your actual measurements for the open version OR positive ease for the buttoned version.
Materials:
♡ Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend (70% merino, 30% silk – 150 yds/137 m per 50 gr); shown in Black.
5 (6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 13) skeins.
or approx. 620 (760, 930, 1220, 1400, 1600, 1850) yards/570 (695, 850, 1115, 1280, 1465, 1690) meters of sport/light DK weight yarn.
♡ 40”/100cm or longer US6/4mm circular needle.
♡ 40”/100cm or longer US7/4.5mm circular needle or different size to obtain gauge.
♡ US7/4.5mm DPNs (optional, for sleeves).
♡ US6/4mm DPNs (for sleeves and i-cord edging).
♡ 5 stitch markers.
♡ waste yarn or stitch holders.
♡ darning needle.
♡ at least 7 small buttons (optional, for buttoned version).
Gauge after blocking:
19.5 sts & 30 rows = 4 inches/10 cm in stst on larger needle.
19 sts & 27 rows = 4 inches/10 cm in lace pattern on larger needle.
