It is one week after the Boston Marathon Bombing. A day that will forever change our home. A day of sorrow and fear, but more importantly, a day of heroes. Why it took place we will perhaps never know, nor will knowing change what happened. Rather than think of the evil of the day, I would like to concentrate on the heroes of the day. The runners, the spectators, the medical personnel, the police and firemen, the first responders and the victims, four of whom are now caught forever in the stars.
The hat is simple, the Boston Skyline, the motto “Boston Strong” that so fits our town. One star for each person taken from us. My hope is that next year Boston will be stronger than ever. My hope is that all who weren’t able to finish the race this year will somehow be given the chance to run the last mile. Boston won’t bow down.
Choose between a close fitting Skull Cap or a taller Ski Hat, the difference is in the decrease. Just be sure to work the decrease section for the height hat desired.
If any knitter would like to donate a finished hat, please email me at LISAGMC@AOLCOM. I will see that the hat goes to a survivor or a runner from that day.
