Angora rabbits, hearts and hand-dyed yarn, what’s not to love? ;)

Those of you on the Ixchelbunny Ravelry group will know that this week Charly and Paul lost a large number of their bunnies suddenly. I designed this pattern in honour of the bunnies that were lost and to help raise awareness around the issue of making myxomatosis vaccination available to Australian rabbit owners for their animals and to stop the manipulation of viruses that then mutate (currently the Australian government does not permit vaccination against one of these man-made viruses that kill rabbits suddenly without warning, and there is no guarantee that vaccination will be effective against calici virus - Charly’s bunnies were lost to a mutated strain of calici for which there is no effective vaccine available).

All proceeds from sales of this pattern will go to Charly and Paul to help them rebuild after this devastating loss. The collages on the left are Charly’s work, used with permission - these are all the beautiful bunnies that were lost <3
