Butterfly Scarf for Kira
This pattern is available as a
free Ravelry download
You can use any weight yarn and any needle size. This pattern has no gauge. It’s ideal for handspun.
The pattern was written for the April 2010 Phat Fiber box but was designed in memory of a little girl named Kira who died from a brain tumor at age 5. Before she died, she told her mother to think of her any time she saw a butterfly. I designed this scarf and made it as a gift for Kira’s mother.
My sample used about 4 oz of worsted weight handspun (250 yds) on a size 10.5 US needle.
The pattern has text and charts and photos to help you with this modular knit scarf. Each motif connects to the next one as you knit and then the flutter edging works up and down the motifs one at a time.
