Caswell Scarf
Any weight of yarn may be used for this scarf.
This scarf was designed to use up leftover yarns. The scarf is fully reversible and may be knitted for as long as desired. The scarf is named after the ship that my great, great grandfather sailed upon.
The first photo shows Malabrigo Mecha using 6.5 mm needles and is 18 cm/7” wide.
The pink sample was made for a toddler using DK yarn and 4 mm/US 6 needles, and is 9 cm/3.5” wide.
A lighter weight yarn will make a narrower scarf, while a heavier yarn will produce a wider scarf.
Use needles that suit your yarn weight e.g. DK 4 mm/US 6; worsted 4.5 mm/US 7; aran 5 mm/ US 8; bulky 6.5 mm/US 10.5. Gauge is not important for this design.
Instructions are given on how to make the scarf wider.
