Chain Attraction
Notes:
Chain Attraction is inspired by my love of chunky jewellery chains – well, who doesn’t love a bit of bling to accessorise an outfit?!
The faux cables are the hat’s main feature. The simple pattern repeat is easy to remember and knits up super quick, yet doesn’t require the use of a fiddly cable needle – hurrah! The hat is knit from the base up, with a deep embossed ribbed edge for added warmth and style, basic increasing for added slouch and decreasing to finish.
The Chain Attraction hat will keep even the coldest of heads warm and cosy, and pairs well with, well, pretty much anything! The ribbing can also be folded over to give a more beanie fit, making this accessory even more versatile.
The hat can be finished with or without the pom pom (a template to help make one is included to print and cut out in your desired size) and would also look fantastic in stripes!
Sizes: Young child (45cm / 18in), older child/young teen (51cm / 20in) adult female (56 cm / 22in).
Yarn: Sirdar Country Style DK (you will need 2 balls), or other wool-blend dk yarn. Approx 205 yards or 225 metres for the adult size, less for the smaller sizes or if leaving off the pom pom.
Needles: 3.5mm & 4mm, 40cm & 80cm cables, or DPNs to finish.
Gauge: 22 stitches x 28 rows = 10x10cm/4x4in square using 4mm needles in the faux cable stitch pattern.
Notions: 1 stitch marker, pom pom tool or cardboard to make your own (optional).
Techniques: Knitting in the round, knit, purl, increasing, decreasing.
