Cotton Leaf Rag
Besides kitchen cotton, wool makes a hotpad (and felted makes a greater hotpad), linen or hemp will make an elegant washcloth.
Some knitters are putting these on gifts. Knitter Donna left a comment about tossing these in a colander. Imagine tying a bunch together to resemble a head of lettuce with a small scrubbie (I’ve seen pattern for them here on Ravelry) tied in the center!
Think about knitting some rows in white or light green or deep red to resemble the stalks in chard or the crunchy white ribs of lettuce. A red radiccio leaf would be nice, purple cabbage, Autumn leaves. The ombre or multi-colorways are fun with these. Right now I am making mine two-toned in Teal Blue and Verde Green, but Emerald and Christmas Green are wonderful too.
