Dark Passenger
Dark Passenger is an original lace design,
inspired by Dexter (they keep cancelling my favorite shows!! whyyyyy?).
This triangular shawl, knit from the center top down to the bottom edges, has no “defined spine”, but instructions are given to aid you in modifying if you choose to.
NOTE: charted only. Experience knitting from charts is necessary.
Dark Passenger uses one skein of fingering weight yarn, but is easily made larger by working more repeats of Chart B (additional yarn will be necessary). End of repeat/chart stitch counts are provided.
The size can also be increased by changing needle/yarn size. Using a needle at least 2 to 3 sizes larger than what is suggested for your yarn of choice will give your lace room to expand. The larger needle you use, the lacier the effect after blocking.
Measurements:
The red sample photographed measured 57x24” /144x61cm (relaxed after blocking), and used 89 grams of one 100g/384m/420yd skein of madelinetosh Merino Light Venetian, fingering weight yarn. (13 repeats of Chart B)
AtKnitsEndYarns Dark Passenger test knit used approx 478yds of Paula by Dirty Water Dyeworks for 14 repeats of Chart B, resulting in a 62.5 x 33” shawl.
Gauge: not crucial…3 repeats Chart B lace pattern (24 rows) = approx 4”/10cm
Materials:
• 100g/420y (384m) fingering weight yarn for 13 repeats Chart B
(additional yarn is necessary if making a larger size)
• Size US 7/4.5mm circular knitting needles, 32” long
• Stitch Marker
• Tapestry needle (to weave in ends)
• Blocking supplies
