Debra is a unique envelope-style clutch that you seam as you knit. Minimal finishing, a chance to use that crazy button, a perfect use for handspun… what’s not to love?

This clutch is easily customizable, as demonstrated in the projects tab. Cast on more or less stitches, skip the ribbing, use a stitch pattern… Customize to your hearts content! The pattern is written for bulky yarn on small needles, but worsted yarn on tiny needles would work just as well.

Skills needed to knit Debra:
knit and purl
pick up stitches
increase and decrease
sewing (button and matching edges)
crochet (or icord) for button loop

Definitely an adventurous beginner’s pattern. Debra is a great way to learn ribbing and picking up stitches.

The name “Debra” came from my aunt Debra; the original sample is knitted from yarn that she brought to me from Scotland, and as I was knitting it up, I couldn’t help but think how it was just her style; practical and rustic, with just a teensy bit of flair. I hope you love Debra as much as I do.
