Pontu is a friendly and energetic dog, who has awesome big ears, soft paws and sparkly eyes.
Information:
Materials needed: I used 1 full skein of DROPS Nepal in 300 Beige for color A, 1 full skein of DROPS Nepal in Goldenrod for color B and about half a skein of DROPS Lima in 8112 Ice Blue for color C. It is suggested to use a lighter yarn for color C, though you can make a cute dog without this alternation too. A lighter yarn enables more drape and softness for the ears. In addition, for the dog’s eyes, I used a scrap of black yarn.
Height: 22 cm
Hook: I used 2.5 mm, but as I’ve mentioned in my previous patterns, I use this hook for basically everything, as I can adjust my own crocheting tension. For best results, choose a hook that is at least 1 size smaller than recommended on the yarn band.
Eyes and nose: The eyes are crocheted and nose embroidered. You can also use safety eyes and with worsted weight yarn, I’d use 12-15mm safety eyes depending on your choice. Same goes for the nose – you can also buy safety noses, but I just used embroidery thread.
Extras: If you wish, you can create rosy cheeks with either a red pencil, crayon or a red soft pastel. Real blush is also an opinion. For permanent results, people have used a permanent marker – but I haven’t ever tried it and therefore cannot give any advice. Some eco shops might also sell natural wax-based blush for more environment-friendly and kid-friendly solutions.
