The pattern contains two sizes of the Dreambird, one for women and another one for little girls.
INCLUDED are TRADITIONAL row by row descriptions for both sizes and DIAGRAMS for those who prefer a visual approach. The OPTIONAL written instructions are meant for those of you who want explanations or are interested in how I approached the project.
The step photos for the Minibird although different in numbers are also a support while you are in the knitting process.
The different approaches work independently from each other; so if the wording bothers you just leave it aside. It is essential though to read the general part about short rows if you are not familiar with them. The coloring has been completely achieved by short rows.
It is also possible to use all three approaches as a support.

The English version has been tech edited by MHM. So if you are interested in the pattern don’t let yourself get confused by the first part of the former KAL or older notes on projects’ pages. They basically refer to times where there was neither a row by row description nor a diagram but only a written pattern. All issues should have been resolved.

The rich coloring of birds is something wonderful and I felt I wanted to express this in knitting. I had the Kingfisher before my eyes when I did this but there are no limits of what you can do, hence the name Dreambird!

Dreambird looks more complicated than it is. When you strictly follow the instructions for the first feather the following ones will be a walk in the park! The shaping is done by short rows and I explained everything in detail so that you don’t need to be an advanced knitter to knit this piece.

As in the wingspan, the drive of the shawl is attained by offset triangles. Additional elements transform the triangles to feathers. Maylin, the creator of the Wingspan, authorized this version before I even started knitting.

You can knit the feathers with a yarn of rather long color changes or use up your stash, it is up to you! The fluffy Kid Mohair in the background emphasizes the feathers.
