This is a reconstruction of the silk stockings in which Eleanora of Toledo (wife of Cosimo d’Medici, Grand Duchess of Tuscany) is buried (having died in 1562 at the age of 40).
Stitch motifs are both written out and charted.
A picture of the reconstructed stockings is also available in the Holiday 1990 issue of Cast On magazine, from The Knitting Guild of America.
