Emily Dickinson
The Dews drew quivering and chill -
For only Gossamer, my Gown -
My Tippet - only Tulle -
An ethereal triangle with a scattering of crystal beads, inspired by lines from American poet, Emily Dickinson.
Knit from the bottom up on 3.5mm/US4 needles with approximately 20g/320m/350yds of Jamieson & Smith Shetland Supreme 1 ply Gossamer yarn, color grey.
I used the Single Cast On, worked loosely to get pointy points.
273 clear glass 6/0 Japanese beads are added with a 1mm crochet hook. Three on each point, and a diamond grid across the shoulders.
The beads are added as follows:
Work the st. as indicated on the chart. Lift the new st. from the right hand needle with the crochet hook, and slide the bead onto the st. Pull the right hand needle out of the st. and insert it again in the loop above the bead. Tug the yarn gently to restore tension.
Finished dimensions after blocking:
50in/127cm x 24in/61cm.
The pdf includes three charts and instructions.
A top down version of this pattern is available separately as Emily 2.
