Of course, it is possible to knit the crescent-shaped Fall Companion simply in two solid colors. But it develops its full appeal when you bring one of those gradient cakes into play. Since they are often just a little bit too short in yardage for a full grown shawl, I did a little trick here: I picked up the colors from the beginning and the end of the cake and supplemented with yarn in the same colors.
The edge is worked with slipped stitches; that means it is easier to handle than stranded color­work because you only work with one color per row.

Natürlich lasst sich der sichelförmige “Herbstbegleiter” auch schlicht in zwei Farben stricken. Seinen vollen Reiz entwickelt er aber, wenn man einen Farbverlaufsbobbel ins Spiel bringt. Da reguläre Bobbel oft eine zu geringe Lauflänge haben, wurden hier die Farben vom Anfang und Ende aufgegriffen und mit Garn in gleichen Farben ergänzt. Die Kante wird mit Hebemaschen gearbeitet; anders als beim stranded colorwork hantiert man also jeweils nur mit einer Farbe.
