Happiness: The definition of felicity. These elegant and close fitting fingerless gloves feature a mid-length lace-trimmed cuff, eyelet detailing, and I-cord edging at palm and thumb. While designated as “left” and “right” in the pattern, these mitts are versatile and can be worn on either hand. Wear them plain, add a sparkling pair of buttons, or I-cord laces for a bit of flair at either your inner or outer wrist… Whatever makes you happy.

Materials:
Fingering weight yarn: 200-250 yards
Set of 4 or 5 double pointed needles (see sizing info below)
Stitch markers
Small stitch holder or waste yarn for holding thumb stitches (locking stitch markers or safety pins are also an alternative)
Tapestry needle for weaving in tails

Optional embellishments: 2 decorative buttons, 4 beads, 10 yards of a contrasting color for I-cord laces.

Techniques:
The lace trim is knit flat then the mitt is continued in the round on picked up stitches. Basic skills needed include knitting, purling, increasing, decreasing, and picking up stitches. Other techniques used are knitted or cable cast on, I-cord bind off, and grafting stitches.

Sizing
While the medium size will fit most, sizing for these mitts can be achieved through gauge: Measure your palm circumference and choose your needle size based on these recommendations:

Small (6 to 7”): US 1-1/2 (2.50mm)
Medium (7 to 8”): US 2 (2.75mm)
Large (8 to 9”): US 2.5 (3.00mm)
