Felting creates a water and wind-resistant mitt, both dense and sturdy, while the non-felted cuffs keep the mitts firmly seated. This is a proven pattern: mittens made according to these instructions have been keeping kids’ hands warm for winter after winter here in Wisconsin.
These mitts are serious outerwear.
The pattern also includes a felting how-to for both hand felting and machine felting.
