First Leaves Baby Blanket
I worked this newborn blanket to a dear friend who is expecting her 4th child. The dolls blanket is made for her nearly 4 year old daughter - who most certainly will be treating her doll as a baby, as well.
This pattern is written in 3 sizes:
Dolls blanket. Large enough to be wrapped around a doll of about 30cm/12”. Could be used as a throw over the dolls pram or bed. Measurements: 45x45cm/17.5x17.5”
Newborn blanket Suitable for the newborn baby - and up until a few months of age. Large enough to be used as a pram blanket.
Measurements: 63x67cm/25x26.5”
Larger throw Could be used to wrap around an older child. Large enough to be used as a throw for a baby cot. Measurements: 81x85cm/32x33.5”
You could easily modify the size of the blanket by changing the gauge, or by adding/subtracting pattern repeats.
Material I used Sandnes Garn Alpaca to work the blankets. This yarn is of DK/8ply weight and comes in balls of 50gr/1.76oz and 110m/120yards. You will need 3/5/9 balls to work the blankets.
Needles used: straight or circular needles 3.5mm/US4. You will need 6 stitch-markers.
Construction:The blankets are worked in moss-sts (US seed-st) and has a lovely border of leaves running around all sides of the blanket. The dolls blanket has a center of moss-sts only, whereas the 2 larger blankets has a center of leaf-pattern.
Kntting skills k and p sts, yo, ssk, k2tog, sl1k2togpsso. The leaf pattern is both charted and comes with an entire row-by-row instruction.
Errata: row 10 of the chart should show 7 p sts.
