Design is worked flat, but a 24 or 32 inch circular needle is recommended, to more comfortably hold stitches.

Note: While this is very similar to Flared Bottom V-Neck Cardigan, they are not the same pattern. They have different gauges, yardage requirements and sizes, and differ in a number of other details, such as shaping and sleeve lengths.
