Heathery shades of fingering weight yarn and classic patterning make this slightly slouchy beret comfortable and stylish. Inspired by the warm colors of autumn leaves, my version combines shades of brown, tan and gold with cooler shades of green, grey and blue.

It uses less than half a ball for the main color (MC) grey, and much smaller amounts--15 g (63 yds / 58 m) or less--of the other colors. The pattern includes both charted and completely written instructions. In addition, blank versions of the two hat charts have been included for ease in designing with your own color scheme.

Size: Adult Medium, to fit 20-22 inch (51-55 cm) head.
Skill level: Intermediate (stranded fair isle, corrugated rib, lifted m1 increase, centered double decrease)
GAUGE
32 sts and 33 rows to 4” (10 cm) over stranded stockinette stitch, unblocked.
When wet blocked over a dinner plate, stranded knitting gauge is 26 sts and 32 rows to 4” (10 cm). For yarn substitution, choose a fingering weight wool that typically knits to 28 sts to 4 inches in plain stockinette.
