Fox Isle
I know foxes aren’t native to Shetland but if there’s one thing I love more than stranded colourwork, it’s foxes! I designed this hat on scraps of paper on the ferry home from my trip to Shetland, and knitted it using yarn I’d bought just hours before in the Jamieson’s of Shetland shop in Lerwick. It’s knitted in DK weight yarn rather than the 4-ply I’ve used for most of the rest of the collection, so it’s definitely a quicker knit.
The colours are Oxford 123 (Black), Steel 320 (Grey), Pebble 127 (White) and Ginger 462 (Orange) and the hat uses less than a ball of each colour.
This pattern is part of my collection “Shetland Story”, produced in celebration of Shetland Wool Week.
All of the patterns are designed to be knit quickly and easily, since we’re heading in to gift-knitting season, and to encourage knitters to try out Shetland yarn if they’ve not used it before.
