Frieze Mitts
These mitts feature a quick and fun to knit stitch pattern that may look complicated but is easy to work since it is created by using the mosaic technique: slipped-stitches, only one colour at a time & one little trick…
The pattern comes in two versions; one for the all-over stitch pattern and one for a basic mitt with a small band worked in the stitch pattern at the upper hand.
The design was inspired by Susan Ashcroft’s Brain Frieze cowl. The mitts were designed to match this cowl and are a great way to use up small amounts of leftover yarn.
This is a free pattern, however for the stitch pattern you’ll need to refer to the chart or written instructions from the cowl pattern.
You’ll need two dk to aran weight yarns in colours with good contrast, they can even be slightly different in weight. To make the stitch pattern look even more complex use a striping or handspun yarn with a contrasting solid.
The size of the mitts will fit a women’s average hand size with 18cm/7” circumference.
Hope you’ll enjoy the pattern!
HeleenK & vhglass: Thanks so much for testing. I really appreciated all your helpful comments and enjoy seeing your wonderful knits!
