Grandma’s Flower Garden is the second in a trio of shawls inspired by my “Grandmothers Flower Garden” Scarf. This one is dedicated to my Grandma who had a wonderful flower garden. The lace patterns used in the shawl remind me of the snowdrops, tulips and lavender which were always a feature during the year.

This pattern contains two versions of the shawl: one is made with a single colour of yarn, whilst the other uses 2 colours; both incorporate the 3 lace patterns with garter and stockinette.
The shawls are elongated crescents, which are easy to knit and wear, knit from the top down all in one piece.

The single colour shawl requires approximately 420 yards of fingering weight yarn. Whilst the two colour requires approximately 270 yards of colour A and 345 yards of colour B. I recommend solid, tonals and lightly variegated yarns to show the lace off.

For the single colour shawl I used Cascade Heritage Silk in Dark Purple (5633), using 93g = 405yards.
For the 2 colour shawl I used Cascade Heritage Silk in Cream (5618) using 56g = 246yards; Lilac (5673) using 73g = 320yards
Please note I am a tight knitter so if you don’t do a gauge swatch then you will need more yarn than I did, hence the larger yardage requirements.

The pattern has full written instructions for both shawls, with regular stitch counts and guidance on yardage; an abbreviations key; written and charted instructions for the lace and notes on blocking.

Gauge – 20 stitches = 32 rows = 4” in stockinette stitch, blocked - although this is not crucial. Please note that you may need more or less yarn if yours differs from this.
