This is one of a pair of square designs featuring the star motif. The other is Granny’s Easier Star.

In this case the transition from the star to a square shape contains multiple stitches, and needs concentration. The result is lacier than Granny’s Easier Star.

It can be worked with 4 ply sock wool and a 3mm hook (6 inch result), dk yarn and a 4 mm hook (8 inch result) or worsted weight yarn and a 5.5mm hook (12 inch result). Just change the number of repeated rounds to get the size to fit your requirements.
