Haitian Ada
Carol of Knitting, Beads and Other Things has a yarn kit available on her website, $1.00 of every kit sold goes towards Haitian Relief efforts.
You will also need a small piece of card and twine for the tag to go with her. Even though the pattern is available for free, Alan is suggesting a donation.
For folks in the UK, who are getting yarns through CPU Enterprises, that company will also be making a donation from yarns sold for Ada to Haitian relief.
From the pattern:
This pattern has been designed to raise funds to aid the victims of the Haitian earthquake 2010.
Ada is a Hispaniolan solenenodon, a shrew-like creature that is unique to Haiti and the Dominican Republic, and is wearing a dress inspired by the Haitian national flag.
Please either make a donation for this pattern, and/or knit the toy to sell, donating the money received to the fund. In the UK you can donate online by going to the Disasters Emergency Committee’s website at www.dec.org.uk, or you can make a donation to a similar organisation in your country.
There is a group called haitian humanitarian aid on Ravelry that has more information as well. Also you can check this out on the Alan Dart Group on the Haiti Relief Efforts thread.
Alan Dart group is doing this as KAL for Ravelympics and a flickr group has been set up so Alan can see all the Haitian Ada’s that have been knit for charity.
Enjoy the design.
