Hannah Newsboy Hat
This fresh version of the traditional newsboy hat is soft and feminine with a vintage appeal. Great for a date at the coffee shop or an afternoon at the market.
This pattern is best worked in a yarn that has some drape to it. Yarns like superwash wool, wool/alpaca blends, wool/silk blends, cashmere. The original yarn is no longer in production. A great alternative is Knit Picks Capra DK. It is a lovely soft merino cashmere blend.
Pattern Notes:
The band worked flat and can be knit longer or shorter to fit your head circumference. Sts are picked up around the band to create the hat. Increases are worked to create the slouch then decreases are worked at the crown. The bill is worked using short rows. Short rows creates a pouch where you insert a cut piece of craft foam to help the bill keep its shape. Craft foam is ply-able and washable! There is a template on the pattern for the shape needed when cutting out the craft foam.
This hat looks great on everyone! Take a look through all the finished projects to see why this is a favorite!
