Hextile Wrap
A dramatic yet light wrap for transitional seasons, the Hextile Wrap is knit on the bias for maximum drape and length. Its unfussy stitch patterns are a perfect vehicle for showing off your favourite fingering weight yarn (you will only need two precious skeins)!
The stitch pattern is intuitive to knit and easy to memorise, with triangular lace ‘tiles’ nesting together to form a pattern of hexagons on the garter stitch background.
Skills needed include garter stitch and simple lace (using k, yo, k2tog), knitting into the front and back of a stitch to increase, and slipped stitches for the edges. The Long Tail Cast On and K2tog-Tbl Bind Off are optional if you have a preferred alternative method.
Materials: 2 skeins of Miss Click Clack Fenwick Street Flashmerino (85% superwash extrafine merino, 15% nylon; 437yds/400m per 100g skein), or 790 yards / 722 metres of fingering-weight yarn. Sample is knit in the colourway ‘Melbourne Black’.
Sizing: Finished Measurements, relaxed after blocking:
85 inches / 216 cm long (75 inches / 190.5 cm along each long edge), and 13 inches / 33 cm wide.
The wrap can be enlarged by adding repeats across and/or lengthwise (with additional yarn).
Charts and written instructions are both provided in full.
