Hourglass Cowl
The cowl is made using two stitch patterns which are complex in appearance but simple to knit. A bonus is the fact that the Hourglass eyelet pattern has a very attractive “wrong side” (second photo), and the diagonal rib is of course reversible. Hence two cowls in one! The cowl is ideal for a worsted-weight yarn, but could also be worked in DK or Aran weight, on an appropriate needle size. Cascade 220 makes a satisfyingly crunchy cowl with good body. A yarn with more drape and sheen would also give lovely results. A tweed yarn could be stunning as well….
Designer’s note to non-Ravelry knitters: Please be aware that some of the photos you see here represent projects made with a different yarn weight, a different number of pattern repeats and/or a different needle size. The cowl in the top two photos is the original sample.
