Broken rib stitch pattern, a ‘sore thumb’, and buttonholes at the index finger and thumb for easy access to touch-screen devices: Bits and pieces of design stitched together to create tech-friendly mittens for the modern Überwaldian. (Thanks to Sir Terry Pratchett’s ‘Discworld’ character for the inspiration!)

Worsted wool on US 6 (4mm) needles gave me a gauge of 6 stitches/inch in stockinette. This resulted in a mitten that is a comfortable fit for my large-ish hand. Adjustments can be made with yarn weight/needle size, or by increasing the number of cast on stitches in multiples of four and dividing for front and back accordingly.
