Frequently Asked Questions:
1) You will receive both the French and English version of the pattern with your purchase--they are two separate PDFs and both will be available in your library!
2) Thanks to those of you that have pointed out that the buttonholes are technically on the wrong side for a girl. This was my first garment, and now I sort of think of it as a design characteristic that I’m hesitant to change--a throwback to the beginning of my design experience. If you’d like to correct the buttonholes on your garment, you can do that by simply ending the buttonhole rows with (K2tog, YO, K2) instead of inserting the buttonholes at the beginning of the row.
3) This is designed to be an open, loose-fitting garment and there are approximately 2-4 inches of ease built into the body as designed. Some knitters prefer to knit a size smaller with extra length for a snugger fit, while others choose to knit as designed, allowing children to wear the garment to the maximum age and beyond. If you are knitting for a preemie or a newborn, you can use smaller sized needles or consider DK weight yarn. Similarly, the size 5 will fit up to a 27 inch chest with no ease…my 8 year old daughter wears one with extra length!

0-6 months (12 months, 18 months, 2T, 3T, 5) These roughly translate to a child’s chest size of 17 (18, 19, 21, 22, 24) inches.
yarn:
1 (2, 2, 2, 2, 2) skein(s) of Malabrigo Merino Worsted at approximately 210 yards a skein.
Other yarn possibilities include Dream in Color Classy or Malabrigo Rios.
