This is the fourth pattern in my Doctor Who Companions series, inspired by both Rose Tyler and her alter ego Bad Wolf. Rose is a strong personality and the companion that most keeps the Tenth Doctor on his toes. When she becomes Bad Wolf, Rose is intense, fearless, and powerful.

This shawl represents the strength in Rose when she is Bad Wolf, using bold cables intertwined throughout in a continuous pattern. The almond-shaped main body patterning is reflective of Bad Wolf’s eyes, her most striking feature. The secondary patterning at the bottom represents the time vortex that created Bad Wolf, with a pattern reminiscent of the Tardis itself at the centre.

Skills Needed

• Basic lace knitting skills: knit stitch, knit two together (k2tog), slip slip knit (ssk), and yarn over (yo).

• Intermediate knitting skills: make 1 knitwise, and purling into the front and back of one stitch.

• Cabling knitting skills: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, stitch cable crosses.

Finished Dimensions

Approximately 137 cm (53.9 inches) wide and 48 cm (18.9 inches) deep at the spine after blocking.
