These top-down socks feature an easy-to-memorize stitch pattern made up of knits and purls that creates a textured, cozy sock perfect for men and women. The pattern works equally well for solid and variegated yarns.
The subtle waves of the finished fabric combined with the geometric shapes revealed when the sock is stretched reminded me of the classic children’s rhyme about the mathematically gifted inchworm measuring marigolds, and so these socks are named after him!

Necessary skills:
Knit in the round (instructions given for dpns, easily adaptable to 2 circular needles)
Basic decreases (ssk, k2tog)
Pick up and knit stitches
Kitchener stitch

Please note that yarn substitutions may affect your gauge and the overall size of the sock.
