It's All About the Messy Bun
This pattern was written after the Messy Bun crochet hat nearly broke the internet. At the time it went viral, there was not a pattern for it, so I created this pattern for my Daughter. I only created the one size, Adult. But you can easily make it smaller or larger, shorter or longer. It’s a very simple pattern.
Gauge Information:
8 double crochet stitches & 4 rows = 2”
If you use a heavier worsted weight yarn (I used Red Heart Unfortgettable), then you will have sizing issues unless you use a smaller hook size or make adjustments to the number of stitches you chain and increase up to.
Measurements with Unforgettable:
Diameter of hole - 2 1/2” - 3”
Length up to brim: just over 5”
Length with brim: just over 7 1/2”
Width across when laying flat: 8 1/2”
Will fit up to 23” head (my head).
UPDATE 12/18/16:
I have updated the pattern, to include an alternative brim - a F&BPDC brim, very lovely! And I also added some alternative rows to the hat, to add a bit of texture, if all that double crochet gets a little boring! ;-)
