Gauge and Tension- Gauge isn’t something I use when I crochet and I honestly don’t know anything about it. What I do know about is tension. And the stitches for these little guys have to be pulled pretty tight in order for all the shapes to come out right. So please pay no attention to what I’ve put for the gauging here. I don’t understand the concept well and so don’t apply it. :/

What You Will Need:

  • Scissors
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Toy filling
  • Buttons
  • Thread
  • Regular Sewing needle.
  • And of course, Yarn.

Colors I Used-Yellow (for the plastron), Burgundy (for Raph’s mask), Blue (for Leo), Orange (for Mikey), and Purple (for Don). Skin colors are all different variations of green as they have different skin-tones on the cartoon show. Dark green for Raph. Leaf Green for Leo, Lime Green for Mikey, and a minty green for Don. You don’t have to use as many different colors as I did, feel free to use any green you want for them. I used Burgundy for my Raph’s mask because I felt his skin-tone was too dark for a lighter red.

You won’t use a whole skein for this project unless you use the same green for all of them. The turtles are all pretty small and each part takes only a little while to make.

Stitches Used In This Pattern- Single Crochet, Double Crochet, sc2tog, and the Magic Circle.

If you don’t know how to do any of these or feel you need practice, check out Youtube for some tutorials.

Things To Know Before Starting- Each piece is made separate and stitched together. There’s the head, the body, two arms, two legs/feet, and finally, the shell. So seven pieces in all. The legs and arms will not need to be stuffed.
